submission: Stick Arena (NG)

Its a really awesome game, and I'm glad you submitted it to newgrounds.

I play it at xgen though under my account name so theres not much of a reason for me to see it on newgrounds but i guess people who dont visit your site don't know what it is. good luck attracting more visitors!

"better, but still not as good as it could be..."

throw in some cool plot twists or something, like plaque things...if you leave it as just teeth it might get kinda boring, but if you throw in some new characters, whether its in one two, or six more episodes, i think it would do much better.

i mean, just look at mario...it has tons of movies coming out with just the same few characters, but i think the toof series has too few of a variety. try and get a smaller plot into it by adding a couple other characters!

just try it and see if people like that a bit more...

This is so much better than the last episode! Ugh, I'd write you a review but my throat hurts too much from the insane amount of yelling I did out of enthusiasm. I was just so excited for this episode, good job man!

Thursday Night Special 4

"A beautiful masterpiece."

date: August 5, 2006

To start, I will explain my scoring decisions.

The graphics were amazing. I liked all the drawings in both parts. Both were very detailed beyond imagination. The first piece had the better graphics, but a plot was lacking. This is ok though, because of the astounding loop it made back around which could go on for hours and hours without getting boring (even though I only watched it for about one hour). The second part's graphics were also good but not AS good as the first. However, the second had a very indepth plot which required less animation in the people's motions, such as the Broken Saints movies. The second part also had more variety of backgrounds, and character development.

As for the style, both had a unique style I have never seen before. The first part had the happyleetghost in two different styles, the smooth, and the sketchy (seen in the thumbnail). This diverse series of styles was thrilling to watch, especially the traced looking P-Bot near the background. It appeared as it was traced which added a lot more style to the display of characters. In the second part, the style was darker and more serious. It had a unique drawing, framed, on the backwall of the third background or so. I loved the style in this part.

And the sound. The sound is what pulls this entire submission together. In the menu, it makes it exciting to click the play button for each part and draws the viewer into the piece. In the first part, the looping music matches the looping animation. This is also what makes this part a masterpiece. When music and animation sync, it's beautiful and always will be. The second part's music synced very will too. In the battle scene, the music is what brings the battle to life, like in the movie, Troy. In that movie, the music is what makes the battles a moment to remember, and this is what this part does. The epic feel of the mighty characters dueling it out is what most people are urging for as they watch Newgrounds submissions.

So that is what brings us into the violence of this submission. There was not much violence in the first part, but in the second part, the violence makes up for lack of violence in the first part. Whoever created the idea of having violence in one half of the movie to make up for the other half is a genius because I very well see it here. THIS is genius. The violence of a movie brings out the emotions and wonderous ways of real human life and the anger and hatred one feels towards the other. It almost brings you right into the movie and makes the viewer take a side of their own, almost like a game, which makes the viewer interact with the movie.

This leads into the interactivity found in both of these parts. The first puts you into a trance and keeps you watching for a long time, longer than playing an actual game. The buttons to choose the parts are also very unique. I have never seen such buttons for the viewer to press with the click of a mouse to choose which part they would like to see. Most would just play them in succession, but you took it a step further. This is another tool to keep the viewer into the action.

Another element of the direction of this animation was the magnificent humor built into the seriousness of both parts. The first part had satire I have never seen nor heard of, and the jokes in the first part were also very original. In the second part, the lack of animation of the character not only gives it simple graphics, or a unique style, it also brings laughter to the hearts of many who watch this movie, whether they know it or not.

In conclusion, to make my point more clear, this is one of the best submissions on Newgrounds at this moment, and should be respected more than it is by fellow Newgrounds viewers, voters, and reviewers. This dual part movie deserves much more than a 2/5, and therefore should have more than a 2/5. I hope you spend time on another because I really enjoy your work. This is why I give you a 10/10, for the eye-candy graphics, the ear-candy music, and the side-splitting humor.

Sincerely,
Starogre

Good luck!

Prehistoric.

"good job guys! another from the dynamic duo!"

submission: Prehistoric.
date: August 4, 2006

The graphics and style speak for itself. They are both equal to one another. The cartoony style calls for more simple and clean graphics and less realistic animation which is what you were going for anyways. The sound and music fit perfectly and some of the sounds are what earned you humor points. There wasn't much graphic violence (and i still don't know why violence is an option but anyway...), and the interactivity was good but there still could have been more powerups and attacks which could have made the game more indepth, which is the game's only flaw. There are unique levels as you play, but more powerups means more strategy and more enemies. (It doesn't matter, still simple and fun!)

Keep it up, can't wait for your next game! This was a big step up from your medieval game with the knight carrying the shield and sword!

Haha, thanks alot man, and thanks for the help.

"eh...i'm gonna be honest here."

submission: TooF Fassabowl!
date: August 3, 2006

The animation was very sub par but the graphics were clean. I have seen similar styles before, but the idea is unique and original, however there are no points to give for that. It didn't even make me smile either so the humor was dry and dull for me. The voices were good though.

In conclusion, the series isn't going very far and i don't know how it is so overrated because i like a lot of different kinds of humor. I also have noticed you have a fan club following you around which isn't really your fault but is still unfair because, to tell you the truth, most of your stuff has a higher score compared to a lot of other great submissions. Since the series isn't funny to me, I'll have to say this: Thank you for making it - it causes funny stuff to happen at newgrounds, such as really funny parodies, that, to be honest, are a lot funnier than the series itself.

Dont Play With Fire 2

"it made no sense..."

date: July 29, 2006

The collab's theme was way too general - everyone has fire in it, ok, but i don't see the point.

The graphics were mediocre and i only found two parts that were a lot better than the others which didn't look too good. Try and keep the skill level more consistent.

The style is ok but I would've given you a six had it not been for the person who tried to animate like DCK which looked really bad...

There wasn't much graphic violence or blood...Just fire on someone so there wasn't as much violence as there could have been.

There was a tad bit of interactivity but not much to make it more fun, such as a preloader game or something.

I didn't find any of it funny, but since you tried to make it funny i gave it +1 to be generous.

Overall, it wasn't much more than a lot of other collabs out there. I am still waiting for a collaboration with an actual storyline and such.

Advice: Don't make a third one. the theme of playing with fire is boring unless there are a few pyromaniacs in the NG population. Try and do something more epic and serious next time. It will look cooler, because trying to make being lit on fire by showing tons of different styles doesn't really work because the 'humor' gets repetitive. If it were more serious, the movie doesn't appear to be as repetitive because you aren't trying to be funny with the same joke in every part.

Think about it.
