man thats a droopy face

i like how he's still smiling even though half the muscles in his face are dying

i also enjoy the big ass nose i just want to honk that shit

looks like you should be animating this since its on animation paper

CoolDrMoney responds:

I got real bored one animating night and I drew this guy so there

this sir

is true art

when you can make a sculpture like this out of trash that is what art is all about. i don't know how to describe it but i can see your soul and feelings in the flower. to see all your past and memories within this sculpture made of trash is almost like you are getting rid of all the bad things that happened and starting a new life

CoolDrMoney responds:

Or like I would have gotten an "F" in the class it was made for : [

it definitely looks cool

he looks like a cross between hunchback of notre dame and beast from beauty and the beast

the anatomy is kind of awkward though it's up to you i guess what he looks like. the hands are just so tiny and i don't think the back should extend out that wide so low to his waist. it should probably get wider a little higher up...i think.

i like the textures of the whole thing

i hate the pose, it looks like he's taking a shit, along with his constipated face...and you can't even see the rest of his legs or feet. just because you modeled it doesn't mean you shouldn't pose it correctly for an art portal

milkysquid responds:

I was going for a little less human so didn't want to keep a normal human body shape, thanks for the feedback, i agree now I shouldn't have cropped the feet.

awesome colors

so many colors but they all fit together. well done. your photoshop painting techniques inspire me

sucho responds:

thats what the colour balance tool is foooooor

you break so many rules

i love your stuff. you do everything out of the ordinary and distorted yet you keep it a good drawing. great stuff, keep it up. do you work for a cartoon company or anything?

DirkErik-Schulz responds:

Nope. Not now, but hope to.

dude that is gross!!!

what is wrong with his head??????

i like the colors, slight depth of field effect, and his big luscious lipth

BoMToons responds:

He looks uncomfortable...

i want to live there

for about a week tops, probably no wifi

good painting overall. it seems like you did it pretty quickly. it would be neat if you added a BIT more color variation to some things, rather than keeping the trees JUST green and yellow, the wood just brown, etc.

i still can't figure out how you get your overall lighting so good and believable. great work once again

AlvinHew responds:

A few of my artist friends suggested that I should experiment with using less colours in my paintings and that I should leave my work more loose and rough in some areas. I decided to try out their advice with this piece.

Of course, being a huge fan of colour, I made some spots very colourful here and there, but the piece overall does indeed compose of only a couple main colours.

Thanks for the review.

the texture

in these pretty realistic drawings you're pulling off you nail it all VERY WELL. it's just that the colored pencil texture that resides makes it look less real. I guess that's the sacrafice made. anyways beautiful job, the pattern is great, and i like how the focus is on the details up close rather than EVERYTHING in the image (the amp).

only thing that stands out to me is that the whole picture plane is off. it could have been the way you made it digital, but the grain in the floor and the amp are both at a slant. if you did that on purpose, its fine but it seems like it was a mistake when it's that minor of a slant.

otherwise i know you put a great detail into the pattern and reflections, so good work. good luck getting it back from the AP judges, i'm sure you'll be fine (let's hope the drawing is in good condition as well)

Bit-Master responds:

I never thought the colored pencils to be limiting, as every other medium I've used has limited me more so, but you are right. They can't make a perfectly real image. After a while, though, super-realism in art is a lost cause. Digital cameras and top days of tireless work in seconds. In short, I personally like the pencil texture.

The picture plane thing is off, but in my defense the guitar on the stand was probably off and I decided to line up with that when I took the reference shot. </excuses>

The AP judges were kind enough to give it back without a scratch, and it's soon to be hanging up right in my room. Thank you for the very detailed and positive review.

I make my observations into something you can observe.
