the texture

in these pretty realistic drawings you're pulling off you nail it all VERY WELL. it's just that the colored pencil texture that resides makes it look less real. I guess that's the sacrafice made. anyways beautiful job, the pattern is great, and i like how the focus is on the details up close rather than EVERYTHING in the image (the amp).

only thing that stands out to me is that the whole picture plane is off. it could have been the way you made it digital, but the grain in the floor and the amp are both at a slant. if you did that on purpose, its fine but it seems like it was a mistake when it's that minor of a slant.

otherwise i know you put a great detail into the pattern and reflections, so good work. good luck getting it back from the AP judges, i'm sure you'll be fine (let's hope the drawing is in good condition as well)

Bit-Master responds:

I never thought the colored pencils to be limiting, as every other medium I've used has limited me more so, but you are right. They can't make a perfectly real image. After a while, though, super-realism in art is a lost cause. Digital cameras and top days of tireless work in seconds. In short, I personally like the pencil texture.

The picture plane thing is off, but in my defense the guitar on the stand was probably off and I decided to line up with that when I took the reference shot. </excuses>

The AP judges were kind enough to give it back without a scratch, and it's soon to be hanging up right in my room. Thank you for the very detailed and positive review.

pretty nifty

reminds me of the art and drawings from the 'art of monsters inc' book. i like each ones colors and shapes and the different expressions. you should get them into an animation or something

Oelbachtaucher responds:

yeah, I thought of that, too. Maybe someday I'll do that. Thanks :)

not sure if the green fits

but all the colors rock. i like the subtle details in the background too. the chick is hot even though she is a robot but i still lurv her

cool

i kinda actually like the color scheme. so many colors but still fits together nicely. if you don't mind me asking, how did you go about creating this?

NitroX72 responds:

I use Apophysis 2.08 3D Hack. You can get it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/apophysis/files/

haha

i really like it. the background colors go nicely with the smudges all over the chick. the pose is cool and i like the smashed boob hahaha.

good work, nice combination of soft solid colors and textures. can't figure out what she has over her shoulder though.

Sabtastic responds:

Hahaha - yeah. The smashed boob was only drawn so I could get away with drawing her topless and STILL not show any nipple. I wanted to keep it PG. ;D

Also, the things she's carrying are a bunch of animal pelts. :)
See the raccoon tail? xD

keep it up man

i love your art styles. this one especially is awesome. so many old artistic techniques in this it's crazy good job dude. i especially like the colors near the top. any symbolism and allegory you are using is cool too.

cool but

what about the giant robot camels?

nice

that is a good copy of some anime drawing.

next time try making it more in proportion. i doubt anyone's hair actually looks like that. you obviously had to have been copying from some cartoon. also, no one's hairline goes straight across their forehead. the nose is too small and the eyes are off alignment. next time copy from a real human because these proportions are way off. also those are some giant square pecs he has.

I make my observations into something you can observe.
